A day in the life of…

We finally have a good covering of snow on the ground! We woke up this morning (a day off for us) to 3-4 inches of accumulation in our neighborhood. It’s the first snowfall that has stuck around. Supposedly it will disappear in the next few days because of rain. It is nice to experience winter finally in Ankara.

Snow in Ankara

Another occurence this morning was our electricity randomly shut off. It’s not because of unpaid bills, but power and water outages are common here. The problem is – if your electricity shuts off, you can’t use an electric heater and you can’t turn on your gas heat either. That makes for a cold, cold apartment. Luckily our friends let us come hang out to warm up. Thanks friends!
